38 / There in Spirit

14 of 28 works I hung this week for an exhibit at W2 Community Media Arts in Vancouver.

The group of work demonstrates my interest in a contrast between digital and physical landscapes, response, and relationship to space. If you were unable to attend the reception, the show will be up Tuesday, Jan 12 - through Saturday, Feb 6 2010.

A great week of community letterpress workshops at W2 Community Media Arts. Every session was packed and we made some really cool stuff. Kris Krug came by and snapped a bunch of photos throughout the week, which you can see in this set on his Flickr page.

We engaged dialogue about type, community, and claiming public space. We even talked about being invisible while we worked on the press. Thanks to everyone that came and participated in Organized Type - it was a great time and i can't wait to attend the next series of workshops.

18/ Bikes

Bikes: Cheap if you build em yerself

Collecting a few parts here and there on craigslist for several months could produce enough clutter to actually assemble a few bikes. We've been buiding our bikes this last week and found that buying the key components new (like brakes, fenders, led lights etc...) is the best way to go if you can scavenge for the big stuff online (if you're in gastown superchampion is a crew of rad dudes that will hook up real good quality stuff too). here's the 3 bikes that evolved out of last week - a few more to come after the weekend.

1. Joel's Rammer (100)
2. Jer's Trackie (650)

3. Kris Krug's Nishiki Shakdi (500)
4. Studio Bike Table
